Tutor

Owner of Leeds Drum Studio, Kevin Reid, is a full time drum tutor. He has been drumming for over 20 years during which time he has gained a wealth of playing, recording, drum technician and teaching experience.

Qualifications

As well as a  BA(Hons) Popular Music  from the University of Leeds, he also holds a Certificate of Teaching in The Lifelong Learning Sector. Kevin is registered with the General Teaching Council (GTC).

Teaching 

Kevin currently teaches private drum lessons full time.

He has previously been a drum tutor Queensbury High School, worked for Artforms (Leeds City Council) to provide tutoring in drums & percussion at South Leeds Music Centre, and taught students with Special Educational Needs through Yamsenand Sensory Leeds. He also worked for Leeds City Council to assist and teach students at The Vine Centre.

Kevin is passionate about teaching drums to students with Special Educational Needs or who are on the Autistic Spectrum. He has seen the positive effect that drum lessons have on students and feels that drumming can be of huge benefit, not only for enjoyment but also improving concentration, co-ordination and communication skills.

He is fully DBS checked.

Experience

Kev has performed in various groups, bands & collaborations in the last 19 years. He has performed with metal bands False Flags and Red Stars Parade, 8-piece soul-pop group The Resplendents, Folk Noir band Sail Roads and music/dance project The Oaks.

He has previously the drum technician for Pulled Apart By Horses, and worked closely with them and renowned producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies, Counting Crows) on their album ‘Tough Love’.
